The FIA, International Automobile Federation, published a penalty regarding the Aston Martin driver, Lance Stroll. Just like Charles Leclerc and for the same reasons, they are penalized by 5 seconds for exceeding the track limits too many times.
The FIA explains that Stroll violated article 33.3 of the FIA’s sporting regulations and therefore receives 5 seconds added to his race time. Arriving 24 seconds behind the leader, Piastri, he thus finishes 15th and last among the drivers at the finish.
The statement explains that « based on video evidence, driver no. 18 has left the track limits on 4 occasions without justifiable reasons. »
The FIA is notably lenient in racing, warning the driver several times before they are penalized. Normally, it requires three exits to receive a penalty.
