Red Bull announces a “small” profit of 15.61 million Euros
The Red Bull Technology group announced having generated a record turnover in 2022 of 385.7 million Pounds Sterling, or 446.4 million Euros. The structure, which notably includes the F1 team, reported a profit of 15.61 million Euros in 2022, despite the 7 million fine imposed by the FIA.
In the Red Bull group, nothing is done like everyone else. The Formula 1 team is registered with the FIA as Red Bull Racing. AlphaTauri is an independent structure. However, legally, the teams are under the control of Red Bull Technology Limited, which is located in England under the number 05202976.
Several reports are therefore published regarding the Red Bull group and the stables in relation to their activities in F1.
The F1 Red Bull team in slight profit
On its side, the Red Bull Racing team announces a small profit of 2.38 million Euros “only”. This is mainly due to the impact of the financial penalty awarded by the FIA of 7 million dollars in 2022 for non-compliance with the budget cap. Without this sanction, the profit could therefore have been more than 9 million euros. Also noteworthy is the payment of more than 7.5 million euros in dividends to shareholders. The document also explains that Red Bull Gmbh has committed to supporting the F1 team for at least the next 12 months.
On the revenue side, the team reported an increase of more than 40 million euros to reach in 2022 the sum of nearly 322 million euros in turnover. It should be noted that only 50 employees are assigned to the Red Bull Racing branch for an annual expenditure of more than 22.4 million euros, which is still an average of 37,000 € gross monthly salary per employee.
Avoid all financial penalties
The stable explained at length in the document that everything had been done to prevent a new financial penalty from being imposed on the team for not respecting budget limits. Notably:
– Confirm with the FIA that the file is closed
– Understanding the differences in judgment between the FIA and the team
– Audit the risk and the causes
The Red Bull Technology Group
On the side of the holding company, Red Bull announces a turnover of 446 million euros, up nearly 50 million euros compared to 2021. The resulting profit is less impressive since it is just over 16 million euros but masked by substantial dividends given during the year of the same amount. Without the dividends, it would therefore be about double.
In total, with these previous profits, and despite numerous dividends, the company has no less than 86.76 million euros of liquidity in the bank.
The group has a total of 736 employees in 2022, with about 79% relating to the budget ceiling, so excluding administrative staff. This is very close to Alpine, even though the Red Bull group does not count the employees of its engine branch, RBPT. The 736 employees received an average monthly salary of 11,954 €. b>
The company Red Bull Technology notably announces the creation of the structure Red Bull Advanced Technologies Limited « in order to provide their expertise from the hyper competitive world of F1 to other clients around the world ».
In addition to impressive financial figures and having won the 2022 title, the team highlights the fact that it has been « on television 22.1% of the time » according to their analysis, i.e. « more than any other F1 team » that year.
Red Bull Powertrains
On its part, Red Bull’s engine branch declared a turnover of 212 million euros in 2022. This is explained by the supply of engines taken over from Honda to the Red Bull and AlphaTauri teams. In the end, the company generated a profit of 6.7 million euros for 439 employees declared in 2022 against 197 in 2021.
