Rosberg wants to see Williams reach the top!

Nico Rosberg insisted that he could stay with Williams for what appears to be a long-term duration.

The German is under contract with the team based in Grove for the next season, although the driver was linked with the seat left vacant at McLaren. He could be one of the main figures in the driver market at the end of 2008.

But despite the interest surrounding him, Rosberg said he might remain loyal to Williams for many years, as he wants to take on the challenge of helping his team regain the path to success on a larger scale.

« I’m not with just anyone for at least another season, and hopefully for longer, » said Rosberg during an interview with the Sunday Mail.

He added: « It is very pleasant to be associated with a racing driver status at McLaren. It would certainly be interesting to team up with Lewis again after being teammates a few years ago. »

« But I am very happy where I am. We made significant progress last year, and I hope we will continue to improve the car even more next season. »

I want to play a major role in a potential takeover by the Williams team over competitors, as Alonso did in the past with Renault or Michael Schumacher with Ferrari before.

Rosberg believes that F1 could be on the verge of experiencing exceptional years thanks to the young generation consisting of himself, Lewis Hamilton, and Robert Kubica.

« I am really very happy because I believe that very soon F1 will be dominated by my generation, » he said.

« I was the first of this new generation to arrive in this sport. Lewis is now ahead of the others, but I believe there will be a great rivalry over the years between Lewis, myself, Robert, and Heikki, and maybe Sebastian Vettel. He too could join us, as he had a very promising second half of the season. »

« Sport needs this kind of rivalries and I hope people will talk about us in the future as they used to talk about the great rivalries involving Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Nigel Mansell, and Nelson Piquet, » concluded Nico Rosberg.
