The sky is not threatening for Webber…

Mark Webber claims he is relaxed about his future with Red Bull Racing, despite speculation linking Fernando Alonso with his team.

Webber has a contract with the Austrian team for next year, but that hasn’t stopped rumors regarding him or his teammate David Coulthard from suggesting that one of the two drivers will have to give up their seat for Alonso.

Only 24 hours after Coulthard stated that he was sure he would be with the Red Bull team next year, Webber also dismissed any departure.

« I don’t know all the details of my contract, but I’m sure I will be present to drive, » said Webber, referring to Coulthard’s explanations about his contract that guarantees him an F1 seat no matter what happens.

« David obviously looked at it a little more than I did. »

Webber, who will be present at the private tests in Jerez next week with his team, also said in the interview for the Canberra Times that his team will need to focus primarily on reliability in the future.

« We must first address the problems we encountered during the year, » he said.

« Then, we decided to try to bridge the gap that separates us from the two leading teams, Ferrari and McLaren. Of course, it won’t be easy to catch up. »

Speaking of Lewis Hamilton and his 2007 season, Webber expressed surprise at how the young Briton maintained such strong performances throughout the season.

« He has never lowered his intensity and it will probably not be the case in the future. He has been impressive. »

« He reached the top in his first year and unlike many other drivers who enter F1, he didn’t break his nose. His consistency is a great amazement, » concluded Webber.
