Two stages are over. In less than a day and four special stages, the verdict will be in. Sébastien Loeb remains in the best position for now in his Citroen C4, occupying third place behind Mikko Hirvonen (1st) and Marcus Grönholm (2nd) in their Ford Focus WRC.

In less hellish conditions than yesterday, the WRC crews remained calm today. Only Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford Stobart) sought to make a mark. The Finn, delayed by ten minutes yesterday, clocked six fastest times of the day out of the 7 special stages to get closer to the top 10; he was in 15th position yesterday, and he is now 12th today.

In front, Mikko Hirvonen (Ford BP), Marcus Grönholm (Ford BP), and Sébastien Loeb (Citroën Total) are driving steadily. The Ford drivers are well positioned ahead of Sébastien Loeb, who is securing his position in the top 5: status quo.

In the middle of the pack, behind Petter Solberg (Subaru) and Dani Sordo (Citroën Total), Chris Atkinson – driving the Subaru Impreza WRC – finds himself in a battle with Matthew Wilson (Ford Stobart) to retain the sixth position.

The name of the winner of the 2007 World Championship will be announced tomorrow at 3:00 PM local time (4:00 PM in France).
