Fernando Alonso is the first in many days of testing to have managed to get the upper hand over the Brawn GP drivers. On this Monday, March 16, the second day of testing in Jerez, Spain, the native of the country posted the best time with 1:18.343.
The Renault driver thus beat Rubens Barrichello, who was nevertheless less than a tenth of a second behind.
Alonso completed nearly 100 laps with the R29. He therefore had a more productive day than yesterday.
Brawn GP asked its two drivers to be on track, Barrichello and Button. The duo finished with the second and third fastest times. However, the Briton only managed to complete 12 laps as his car stopped at around 3 p.m.
Lewis Hamilton started McLaren’s testing program, the reigning world champion is fourth, one second behind the Iberian leader.
Nico Rosberg was the fifth driver on track today. He replaced Nico Hülkenberg, test driver for the Williams team, at the wheel of the FW31. He therefore set the last time of the day.
