Chinese GP: Never Two Without Three for Brawn?

The Brawn GP team is experiencing its moment of glory. Having won the first two races of the season in Australia and Malaysia, the team must now brace for rebellion from its competitors. Its diffuser is still controversial for the moment as the decision is only being rendered today.

The two drivers, Button and Barrichello, are living a true dream as leaders of the two championships. They approach this new race filled with enthusiasm, with another victory in mind. The pressure is mounting as there will inevitably be a moment when the euphoria subsides…

Jenson Button – Racing Driver

« After the excitement of the first two races, it was a pleasure to relax and reflect for a few days on this spectacular race in Malaysia. I am naturally delighted with how our season has started but we are not the only ones in the race and everyone in the team is aware that our competitors will not remain idle. We expect a tough fight from now on. »

« Looking ahead to this weekend, the Shanghai circuit is one of the most enjoyable for drivers. It’s a good technical challenge to find the right setup. I will try to take advantage of the high speed and overtaking opportunities. »

Rubens Barrichello – Racing Driver:

« It’s strange to return to China but I’m already eager for the weekend to start. Shanghai is a track that offers an interesting challenge for the drivers. The layout brings back good memories to me because I won the first race here in 2004. With the car we have this year, I have the possibility to do the same thing. »

The BGP 001 performed well in the previous two races in Australia and Malaysia, it will be interesting to see how the car reacts to the Shanghai circuit. You must have a very good aerodynamic balance combined with a stable car with a good top speed to take advantage of the long straight.

Ross Brawn – Team Principal:

Brawn GP has just experienced five incredible weeks since the arrival of the new car at Silverstone on March 6th until the two successive victories in Australia and Malaysia. It was undoubtedly an intense and challenging period of work for the team, and everyone deserves to be rewarded for their commitment.

« The two-week break was an opportunity for the team to meet at the Brackley factory in order to assess our performance and plan the progress of projects for the upcoming races. »

« If there have been no developments on the single-seater, we have addressed some issues that arose in the first two races. We expect cooler temperatures and less humid weather as the race takes place six months earlier. Therefore, as was the case in Malaysia, we need to be ready in case of rain, as in previous years. »
