Liuzzi’s return to racing in 2010?

Vitantonio Liuzzi is seriously considering a race driver spot with Force India next season. And for good reason, the contracts of Giancarlo Fisichella and Adrian Sutil end after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final event of the 2009 season.

For the moment, the Italian is the third driver for the Indian team, but he hopes to become the number 2 or even number 1 next year, which would be a first since 2007 and his position as a race driver at Toro Rosso.

« I am very confident about this, there is a good chance for me to return to racing with Force India, » said Liuzzi. « I have a contract until 2011, while Fisichella’s and Sutil’s contracts expire at the end of the year. »

With the limitation of tests this season, the team has approved that Liuzzi stays in touch with racing by participating in the A1GP under the colors of Italy. He believes that these kilometers covered in this category will help him in his preparations if an F1 seat becomes available.

Participating in the A1GP category comes from a decision made jointly with Force India to stay ‘warm’ since the third driver no longer has the chance to test during the season. We also considered GP2, but it was not possible. »

« The A1GP fits perfectly into my goals because it is a competitive category. It requires good physical preparation and also includes active work in the pits. These are all elements that prepare me for a return to Formula 1 in 2010. »
