The weekends follow one another and look alike for Williams, who strings together good performances in practice but falters in the race. Today, Nico Rosberg finished in 9th position, thus out of the points, while Kazuki Nakajima was the only driver to retire from the race due to a suspension problem.
The first round was intense for the Japanese driver who had a clash with other drivers and had to pit to change his front wing. In the standings, Williams is being caught up by Ferrari, which is scoring its first points.
Nico Rosberg – 9th:
The result is not as good as we hoped today. We just weren’t quick enough. I lost time in several areas at the beginning because all the cars had KERS in front of me. It’s a shame because I had a very good start.
Currently, we therefore need to work hard to improve and catch up with the others. Like everyone else, we will have some new parts ready for Barcelona, and I hope our package will be competitive.
Kazuki Nakajima – Retirement:
« It was a disappointing race for me. My start was average, but it’s very difficult to defend against cars with KERS. I damaged my front wing in the first few kilometers, so I had to pit early. I moved to the back of the pack and from there, I couldn’t do much. The only positive is that the car was reliable, so we hope to do better in the next race. »
Sam Michael – Technical Director
« In the case of Nico [Rosberg], we started and finished in ninth place. We failed to capitalize on his strategy. He made a good start, but then lost positions at turn 1. We need to look and see what happened. Kazuki [Nakajima] had an accident on the first lap. We are now looking forward to a better performance in Barcelona. »
