Lie scandal: Hamilton wanted to leave F1!

McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton admitted that he considered leaving Formula 1 after the scandal in which he was found guilty of lying a few hours after the Australian Grand Prix. The reigning world champion was uncertain if he wanted to stay in the sport.

« I was not 100% sure I wanted to stay in F1 for the next five years, » said Hamilton to the BBC. The Briton still has a contract with the Woking team for a five-year period. « There was a lot of hesitation. Would you like to stay in F1 with people who manipulate you? »

« But if I wanted to keep driving a race car, I had to stay. »

« I also thought about my fans. No matter what people say, I convinced myself to stay and give 100%. There will be other difficult moments to go through, » he added.

« I just hope that my fans will continue to support me. I just want to say thank you to them. They are fantastic. »

« My commitment should never be questioned because I am very attached to this sport, and I am very, very attached to my team. I love this team and I prove it by being with them for many years. »

« We have won a world championship together. We have lost a world championship together and a lot of other things will happen. We are not having a great season at the moment but what is good is that we are a great team. I am happy where I am, » concluded Lewis Hamilton.
