The FIA has also just confirmed the ban on refueling for the 2010 season. The Board of Directors cited cost-saving reasons.
« It has been confirmed that from 2010, refueling during a race will be banned to save on transportation costs of refueling equipment. The other reason concerns the engine manufacturers who will have greater freedom over the weight of the engines produced, » stated the FIA in a declaration released after a meeting of the World Motor Sport Council.
The Board of Directors also confirmed that tire warmers will be banned starting from 2010 and that the ban on other tire heating devices will be maintained.
