Although currently at the back of the pack, Force India has indicated that it wants to keep up with the development pace of the other Formula 1 teams.
While more and more teams like Ferrari, BMW-Sauber, or Red Bull are working on the double diffuser concept in their respective factories, Force India had already deployed a ‘double diffuser’ last weekend in Bahrain.
During the qualifying session, Adrian Sutil positioned himself ahead of the Toro Rosso drivers, and his teammate Giancarlo Fisichella escaped the last row of the grid.
Furthermore, in South Africa, team owner Vijay Mallya announced this week a new development in the diffuser concept to be presented next weekend in Barcelona.
« We have another update that will take place in Barcelona. This weekend will see a significant improvement of our intermediate diffuser and a few other wing upgrades, » said the Indian billionaire via the PTI news agency.
On the Sakhir circuit, the pace of the entire field was within less than two seconds.
« In the midfield, all the cars are now within the same hundredth of a second. Coming out as the winner is a remarkable performance, » added Mallya.
