Friday: Toro Rosso has the long-awaited new package!

The Scuderia Toro Rosso has a new aerodynamic package this weekend, which is more or less similar to that of the parent team Red Bull Racing. A gigantic shark fin, a revised rear wing, and a more efficient front wing. The performance is immediately better, but it will take some time to fully benefit from the performance of this new version of the STR4.

In terms of reliability, the weak point of the day, Buemi suffered from brake overheating. He loses a lot of time but can rely on the numerous data collected by Bourdais. The Frenchman feels more comfortable here.

Sébastien Buemi – 18th and 9th:

« This morning, we had a first impression of the new aero package. However, it’s difficult to say how effective it is. Especially since we don’t know the fuel loads and tires used by other teams. The feeling was good and we are heading in the right direction. »

« In the afternoon, I encountered a problem with my rear brakes that unfortunately occurred right at the start of session 2. So, I lost quite a bit of time. It’s true, it’s not the best start to the weekend I’ve had, but we’ll manage. We need to carefully analyze Bourdais’ data and mine and take into account the evolution of the circuit to tune the car for tomorrow’s qualification. The car is clearly more efficient, but I think it will take more than one race weekend to uncover its full potential.

Sébastien Bourdais – 15th and 11th:

« We are debuting a new package here, which should offer us better potential than what we had during the previous races. Unfortunately, several problems prevented us from fully exploiting it today. Nevertheless, we completed 60 laps, split 30/30 between the morning and afternoon, and thus gathered a lot of data. We can now analyze it to determine the right settings for the qualifiers and the race. »
