Make-up Session – Week No. 19

No need to remind you after almost three months that Monday is catch-up day on casinoenlignefrance.eu.com. Catching up on the essential F1 news from the past week. On today’s agenda, the recent Spanish Grand Prix with a new Brawn one-two but also the sudden death of Max Mosley’s son. The budget cap issue is far from over even though the World Motor Sport Council logically validated this new regulation for 2010. In fact, FOTA is calling for urgent discussions, Ecclestone confirms that he is a Ferrari supporter wanting to protect the Scuderia to the end, and the top two teams are officially threatening to withdraw from the sport in case of disagreements…

A Spanish Grand Prix that sees Brawn GP heading towards the title and Red Bull becoming the runner-up

This first race on the European continent was highly anticipated as this GP is generally considered another start to the season after Melbourne. Everything could have changed, especially since many teams brought new parts or even new aerodynamic packages to shake up the standings. It did not, as Brawn GP is too competitive with a 100% reliable BGP001. The Brackley team thus achieves the double with Button ahead of Barrichello, followed by the Red Bull drivers. Alonso is 5th for Renault, and Massa secures an unexpected 6th place for Ferrari. Heidfeld (BMW) and Rosberg (Williams) make it into the points. The GP was marked by the biggest pile-up of this early season and by the retirements of Räikkönen and Kovalainen.

The 40 Million Pound Budget Cap Raises Concerns

On April 29th, the World Motor Sport Council met and decided to approve a budget cap of 40 million Pounds for teams in 2010. Since then, the controversy has continued to grow, and the FOTA (Formula One Teams Association) is calling for urgent discussions.

Discussions are taking place as this new regulation point would not achieve unanimity among the teams. BMW and especially Ferrari would be the first to grumble. A media-interposed battle is beginning between Max Mosley and Luca di Montezemolo (president of the Scuderia). It didn’t take more to prompt Bernie Ecclestone to react, who, as a defender of the Reds, will protect the team until his last breath.

At this stage, these were only rumors, but this weekend in Spain everything accelerated, and two teams are officially threatening to completely leave the sport if this budget cap is enforced. Toyota and Red Bull do not want to be restricted to 40 million pounds. And it’s not over since the deadline for submitting entries to participate in the 2010 championship is set for May 29th. This month of May promises to be more than tense…
