FIA President Max Mosley stated that he is not interested in increasing the budget cap above 40 million pounds (more than 45 million euros). The Briton believes that increasing this budget could discourage new teams from entering the sport. Mosley added that he does not expect to see a Formula 1 team leave the sport next season.
« I would be very surprised if they leave F1, » he suggested.
The FIA president had a meeting last week with FOTA to discuss the budget cap. About this meeting: « We had an interesting meeting with an exchange of views, but nothing concrete was decided. I believe there will be further developments. The teams need to find out if something better than the budget cap can be found. We will be happy to listen to what they have to say. »
