Saturday: Williams finally places its two cars in the top 10

Finally rewarded! The Williams team, which as usual has dominated at least one practice session since Thursday, can finally smile after the qualifying session. Just before, the last test session took place calmly without any significant performance (positions 9 and 11). But this afternoon, the Grove team managed to get both of its cars into the top 10.

Nico Rosberg comes out the best once again with a third row (6th place), while his Japanese teammate, Kazuki Nakajima, is 10th. The latter has a different strategy that explains this last place in Q3.

Nico Rosberg – 9th and 6th:

« The first two qualifying sessions went well today, but I’m not satisfied with Q3. Sixth place is fine, but I wanted better. I had balance issues in the final segment as well as traffic, especially with Barrichello on my fastest lap, so I wasn’t at my maximum. There’s still a good race to be done tomorrow, starting from a reasonable grid position, so I believe that anything is possible. »

Kazuki Nakajima – 11th and 10th:

« It was a good session for me, as it’s obviously the first time I’ve reached Q3 this season, so I want to say thank you to the team for preparing a good car. I am happy with my place because it’s a difficult track. I am sure I can have a good race tomorrow and our starting position will certainly give me the chance to improve this result. »

Sam Michael – Technical Director:

The drivers delivered good performances today, but unfortunately we didn’t get the best out of Q3 with Nico [Rosberg]. Kazuki [Nakajima] had no tires left to use in the last session, hence his position with a different strategy. It’s good to have both cars in Q3 and we look forward to the possibility of scoring points tomorrow.
