Assessment: Williams joyfully scores 3 points!

The Williams team finally scored points at the Monaco Grand Prix. Rosberg therefore earned three points but had done the essential work yesterday in qualifying where he was already in the top 10. A 6th place finish for the German who was never able to challenge his competitors around him due to a passive strategy.

His teammate, Nakajima, couldn’t score any points regardless, as he would have finished 10th if he hadn’t retired in the final seconds of the race. However, the Grove team has a surge of energy this weekend, which bodes well for the Turkish race in two weeks.

Nico Rosberg – 6th:

« I must be happy today with this 6th place, better was not possible. We did the best we could under the circumstances. I had an excellent start, the first phase of the race went very well. We then did a long stint on the hardest tires even though we were quite concerned about their reliability over time, but they seemed to hold up much better than expected. »

Kazuki Nakajima – Retirement:

The start and the first part of the race were good for me, but ultimately it was quite frustrating because I always seemed to be caught in traffic or having to respond to blue flags. The ending is disappointing; I may have pushed too hard at the time of my accident, especially with the tires I had. But at least I had a good feeling with the car today.

Sam Michael – Technical Director

« It is good to collect points today and Nico [Rosberg] did very well, unfortunately, we were on a compromise strategy due to his qualifying yesterday. It was quite difficult for him to beat the drivers around him, but he scored some points. Nakajima’s car was good in terms of pace here and if we continue to work on development, the performance will be there soon. »
