Assessment: Ferrari is far from satisfied

Despite Felipe Massa bringing back three new points after the Turkish race, spirits are not high tonight within the Scuderia Ferrari team. Given the results of their trials since Friday, the Italian team expected more today.

Räikkönen was simply not performing and finished in 9th place this weekend. His teammate, Felipe Massa, is thus 6th but criticizes the lack of speed compared to the other cars ahead of him. Everyone understands that there is still work to be done at Scuderia to get back to the same level as Brawn GP or Red Bull.

Kimi Räikkönen – 9th:

« The first round was decisive for me: I lost valuable positions and it wasn’t possible to recover them because we weren’t fast enough today. In recent weeks, we have improved our performance, but we are not yet at the level of the best. It’s never easy to catch up with them, because at the same time, others don’t stop their own development. We must not be negative about this after a weekend like this, we need to stay focused. I’m sure we will soon be back in the fight for the top positions. It won’t be easy but I have confidence in this team. »

Felipe Massa – 6th:

« A very difficult day for us. We have to accept the fact that sixth place is the best position we could achieve. The reason is we are not fast enough to compete against those in front of us. We must continue our developments for the Silverstone race. Since Friday, it was complicated to find the best way to make the tires work. For example, today, the soft ones seemed more performant than the previous days, but using them from the start would have been a risk due to their degradation, which until yesterday was significant. »

Stefano Domenicali – Team Principal:

« We expected more from this weekend, particularly considering what we had seen up until Saturday morning when our level of competitiveness was quite good. We need to understand why the performance of our car evolved negatively over the course of the three days. We saw this afternoon that we were not at the level of the best. We need to continue working on the development of the car to try to make up ground, staying focused and not getting discouraged by this setback. »
