Fernando Alonso will travel to the Netherlands, specifically to Rotterdam, in August for a demonstration of his Formula 1 car, the Renault R29, on the city streets as part of a racing event.
It was Nelson Piquet who was in the Spaniard’s place a year ago. Alonso will therefore travel through part of the city, including the Willemsbrug bridge, the main avenue of Coolsingel, and will pass near Hofplein park.
« My teammate Nelsinho Piquet, who has driven twice before in Rotterdam, told me about this fabulous event and the enthusiasm of the crowd that comes in large numbers to see us, » explains the Iberian.
« I hope I will hear the fans along the avenue during this impressive display. »
In 2008, over 500,000 spectators came to admire the R28 of the era. Alonso is delighted to participate in this event, especially as he will celebrate its fifth anniversary this year.
Fernando [Alonso] is one of the three world champions still racing today in Formula 1. He is a fantastic driver, one of a kind. He will be the hero of our program in this anniversary year, asserts Herman Vaanholt, organizer of the event.
