The FIA unveils the list of teams for 2010

Brawn GP, leader in the current world championship, as well as McLaren and Renault are the teams registered for 2010, but they must withdraw their conditions to enter the 2010 championship by June 19 or risk being removed from the starting grids.

After days of intense speculation about the future of the major manufacturers, the FIA announced that Ferrari, Red Bull Racing, Scuderia Toro Rosso, Williams, and Force India were authorized to participate in the upcoming Formula 1 season.

This means that Brawn, McLaren, Renault, Toyota, and BMW-Sauber have been differentiated for the moment. Additional time has therefore been granted to try to find a solution to the dispute over cost reductions.

According to a statement released by the FIA: « These five teams have conditional entries for 2010. The FIA has invited them to lift their conditions after further discussions which must be concluded by the close of business on Friday, June 19. »

The presence of Ferrari and the two Red Bull teams could be a source of discord. These latter claimed, like the other teams, that they could not be registered if the conditions attached to their entry were not respected.

However, the FIA believes that these three teams in question have signed a document with the governing body and Formula One Management (Bernie Ecclestone’s FOM) preventing any withdrawal from the sport.

The list also confirmed that three new teams will join the 2010 championship. They are Campos Grand Prix, Manor Grand Prix, and F1 Team US (better known as USF1).

If one of the five teams on the hot seat did not participate in the next season, the FIA is evaluating new teams that could replace them.

There would be three or four other teams that are just a breath away from securing their famous token. In any case, discussions are still ongoing.

Campos Grand Prix is managed by former Grand Prix driver Adrian Campos, while the American team USF1 will be led by Ken Anderson and Peter Windsor.

Finally, Manor is an F3 team under the leadership of John Booth and the former team owner, Nick Wirth.

The 13 teams are as follows:

– Scuderia Ferrari

– Scuderia Toro Rosso

– Red Bull Racing

– Williams

– Force India F1 Team

– Campos Grand Prix

– Grand Prix Manor

– USF1, équipe des États-Unis

– McLaren-Mercedes

– BMW-Sauber

– Renault

– Toyota Racing

– Brawn GP

The last five teams therefore have a conditional entry. The maximum number of cars allowed to enter the 2010 championship has been increased to 26, two for each team.
