Ferrari, Red Bull, and Toro Rosso have made it clear that they will not participate in next year’s Formula 1 World Championship unless the conditions they attach to their entry are met by the governing body.
The Maranello team and the Red Bull Racing teams have been automatically entered on the 2010 list because the FIA believes that these teams have committed to racing under contracts signed with the Board of Directors and the FIA several years ago.
However, Ferrari insists that the terms of this agreement have been violated by the governing body, meaning it cannot force them to be present on a starting grid.
In a statement released Friday morning, Ferrari insisted that it will not participate in next year’s F1 championship unless it is satisfied with the regulations in place.
Ferrari presented, on May 29, 2009, an entry for the 2010 Formula 1 World Championship, which is subject to certain conditions. As of today, these conditions have not been met.
« Despite this, the FIA has included Ferrari as an unconditional participant in the future Formula 1 championship. »
« To avoid any misunderstanding, Ferrari reaffirms that it will not take part in this future championship under the regulations adopted by the FIA, which violate Ferrari’s rights.
As a reminder, Red Bull, Toro Rosso, and Ferrari have been entered unconditionally for next year, while five other teams, members of FOTA, have been invited to lift their conditions to compete in 2010.
Red Bull wished to express itself: « Following the publication of the 2010 team list, Red Bull Racing wants to clarify that their entry was submitted with certain conditions in accordance with the other FOTA members. »
« Red Bull Racing remains committed to FOTA and is in perfect harmony with all of its principles. »
In a statement released a few minutes after the Red Bull team’s, Toro Rosso clarified that it will not compete in 2010 if the FOTA’s requirements are not met.
The STR thus declared: « Following the publication of the 2010 team list, Scuderia Toro Rosso wishes to clarify that its entry was submitted under certain conditions in accordance with the other members of the FOTA. »
« Toro Rosso remains committed to the FOTA and is in perfect harmony with all of its principles. »
A statement that resembles that of Red Bull but does not diminish its importance.
