Prodrive disappointed not to have been chosen

Prodrive boss, David Richards, expressed his disappointment with the FIA’s decision not to include his team in the 2010 championship. However, he has not completely given up on being present on the 2010 starting grids.

With the uncertainty over the future of the teams that are members of the Formula One Teams Association (FOTA) who have until June 19 to lift their conditions attached to their registration, there remains a chance that other teams may be added to the list.

The FIA would remain in talks with at least three or four teams in case manufacturers withdraw from Formula 1.

Richards stated that he would closely monitor events over the next few days but added that his intentions are currently focused on this weekend with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he is present with Aston Martin.

« We are naturally disappointed with the FIA’s decision not to include Prodrive in its list of 2010 teams as we believe we have the resources to be competitive in Formula 1. We could have made a positive contribution to the sport, » Richards said in a statement released on Friday.

« We will wait to see how things unfold over the next few weeks. We must wait until June 19th, the deadline set by the FIA. We are prepared and ready to implement our plans if circumstances allow. As we’ve seen, there are often many surprises in Formula 1. »

« However, this weekend, our attention is 100% on our Aston Martin team at Le Mans. For the first time, we will have three cars competing, following two consecutive wins in the GT1 class, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Aston Martin’s historic victory in 1959 at the Circuit de la Sarthe. »
