Lewis Hamilton now has little chance of having an MP4/24 car with major updates for his home Grand Prix in Great Britain. Hopes were high, but the reigning world champion remains hopeful that his McLaren will be somewhat competitive.
The Woking team could face another challenging period at Silverstone this weekend as the Northamptonshire circuit is very fast and is therefore expected to highlight the shortcomings in terms of aerodynamic downforce of the MP4/24.
There was a small chance that the new package initially planned for the German Grand Prix would make its appearance as early as this weekend in England, but some sources claim that this possibility has now been set aside.
However, the team continues to work on other updates to improve the car at Silverstone. Hamilton, for his part, vows to help his team as best as he can to get back to the front of the grid.
Even though Hamilton is under no illusions, 12 months after his brilliant victory in his home Grand Prix, he stated that he would not throw in the towel.
« You cannot know what will happen. Maybe there will be some new parts, or the team will finally understand what is slowing us down in high-speed corners. »
« You must always keep the faith, and we all hope for improvement. Realistically, we don’t have the necessary pace to win. Finishing in the top 10 is our goal. »
« But we want to maintain all our dignity, keep our heads high and fight, » concluded Lewis Hamilton.
