British GP: Ferrari Understands Its Mistakes and Moves Forward

Scuderia Ferrari arrives in Great Britain but has been searching for the reasons behind its half-failure since two weeks ago and the Turkish Grand Prix. Felipe Massa is convinced that the aerodynamic updates and the introduction of a lighter chassis will help improve Ferrari’s performance this weekend.

Even though the Brazilian and his teammate, Kimi Räikkönen, did not perform well in Istanbul, it is certain that the high speed of Silverstone should suit the Italian team’s cars. Finally, Massa believes that progress is guaranteed, as the team has understood its mistakes in Turkey.

Felipe Massa – Racing Driver

« On paper, this British Grand Prix has some similarities with the last race in Istanbul, where we were not so competitive.

« This weekend, the track is also fast with a third sector that is slower compared to the first two. Additionally, we will have the same two types of tires from Bridgestone, but that does not mean we will be in trouble like fifteen days ago. »

« To begin with, the new components we have on the car this weekend, including a front wing and a lighter chassis, should make us more competitive. »

« In Turkey, we fell back over the weekend after being very competitive on Friday and Saturday morning. We now know why this happened: We believe that with the very high track temperatures, we had too low a level of downforce. As the temperature increased, our cars were slower in the first sector of the circuit, where we needed more downforce. In other words, the issue we faced was related to our way of working, rather than the car’s shortcomings. »

« I think that we can be more competitive this weekend with these changes to the car. »
