Friday: Toro Rosso still waiting for its major update…

The Grand Prix races follow one another and are starting to look the same for the modest Scuderia Toro Rosso. The reason is simple, it’s still waiting for a major update to its STR4 from Red Bull. The number 1 team is trying it out this weekend in Great Britain, so patience is required within the Italian team.

For now, the race at Silverstone will look a lot like the one at Istanbul Park. Therefore, expect to see the single-seaters of Bourdais and Buemi at the back of the grid. Today, on the evaluation day, it was the French driver who took the right direction and managed to get ahead of his teammate by four places in both sessions. The Swiss driver should therefore follow through on his setup tomorrow for the final practice session.

Sébastien Bourdais – 15th and 16th:

« We ran with two very different cars. I’m quite pleased with myself and when I tried the same configuration as Buemi, I didn’t like it. So we went back to our first choice, and it was necessary to give us a clear indication of the direction to take. As usual, this Friday we compared the tires. We now have an exact idea of the situation thanks to today’s data. We’re still lacking pace, but it seems to be better than in Turkey. We need to keep making the most of our car until the major update comes.

Sébastien Buemi – 19th and 20th:

« I didn’t have a good day. The reason is I haven’t really found an effective setup on this circuit. I tried a different approach from my teammate, but I think we will eventually go in the right direction. It will be his because he seems to be more efficient and seems to work better. So tomorrow, we should see improvements. The tire comparison went well, nothing negative with the car. Looking at Bourdais’s performance, I think we can be more competitive than in Turkey, but I need to improve a lot of things. »
