The Williams team had a rather calm day ahead and no issues to report this evening from either Nico Rosberg or Kazuki Nakajima. Each driver worked on their usual program this Friday in the British style!
Tonight, both drivers are in the top 10. Rosberg is 9th, which was also his position in the morning. Nakajima is 4th this afternoon but needed the morning to adapt as he was only 17th before the lunch break. The rather difficult conditions in the morning contributed to this mediocre position. Everything is still at stake tomorrow in the qualifying sessions.
Nico Rosberg – 9th and 9th:
« We tried a number of things, particularly regarding aerodynamics, and we certainly learned a lot. The wind made things difficult because it wasn’t so easy to find the right setup today, but we did our best. It’s always a compromise between the fast corners in the first sector and the slow corners in the last sector. The soft tires are not at the expected level, but they are still the best tires here.
Kazuki Nakajima – 17th and 4th:
Today, the sessions went well for us. I got caught in traffic at the start of the sessions, but everything worked out later. We tried different set-ups on the car and some are very interesting. We now have to study the data in preparation for tomorrow’s qualifying.
Sam Michael – Technical Director
« It was a good Friday session. We ran for the first time with our new parts that we have here. We will study the data tonight, but everything is working well. We also completed our evaluations on the tires and cooling systems. »
