Adam Parr from Williams insists that his team remains fully committed to Formula 1. He dismissed any suggestion of rebellion against the FIA in 2010.
The Grove team was the first of the teams currently present in the championship to submit its official entry for the 2010 championship. Its general manager, Adam Parr, stated on Friday that Williams’ objectives were to align as closely as possible with those of F1.
« Williams is a Formula 1 team. That’s all there is to say, » he stated at a press conference at the British Grand Prix.
Parr acknowledges the advantages manufacturers have in F1, but he states that Williams had to honor its commitments made with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) and FOM (Formula One Management) a few years ago.
« We are aware of what the manufacturers have brought to F1. They have a special status, as Frank [Williams] says, they make fantastic engines and in many cases, they have been very good friends for decades, » he explained.
« It is terribly difficult to find oneself alone on the other side of the barrier. To some extent, we are not spectators because it would be wrong to claim that, but I would like to say that we have ongoing contracts with Bernie [Ecclestone] and Max [Mosley]. We entered the 2010 championship to honor those contracts. »
Parr continued by stating that Williams was unable to keep up with independent teams like Brawn in a new championship.
« I am impressed by the fact that Ross [Brawn] can raise enough money as early as next year. If he believes he has the capacity to do so, then very well, but Williams simply couldn’t keep up, » concluded Adam Parr.
