Hamilton is proud to have won a race at Silverstone

The reigning world champion, Lewis Hamilton, stated that he was proud to have played a role in Silverstone’s history. This circuit is preparing to possibly host its last Grand Prix today.

The McLaren driver is the last British winner to have triumphed in Britain. It was a year ago in the rain for a very fine display of driving.

« My greatest memory at Silverstone will be my victory last year. I am proud to have won a race here and proud to have written a piece of this circuit’s history, » he acknowledged.

Hamilton finished Friday’s practice in seventh place but will start from the 19th position on the grid for the race. He, therefore, does not expect a victory but has stated that he will give his all while enjoying driving in front of his home crowd.

« For me, it’s already one of the best weekends of the year. Because I am at my national Grand Prix and the fans are amazing here. »

I have had unwavering support since my first round and today I just have to step out of my garage to see them supporting me.

« My girlfriend is here, just like my family. So, this weekend is perfect for me in that regard. I’m enjoying the moment and the entire weekend, » concluded Hamilton.
