FIA President Max Mosley has informed the FOTA teams that the governing body is ready to open discussions to resolve the dispute between the two parties.
Currently, the remaining eight teams of the FOTA have committed to launching their own championship in 2010, a threat that Mosley takes seriously since he has withdrawn their application for the FIA World Championship. The list of teams for 2010 will therefore be unveiled at a later date.
Mosley remains convinced that this conflict will be resolved and that a split will be avoided. He believes that there are now few fundamental differences between the teams and the FIA. A solution should be quickly found if talks do take place.
« We talk to people all the time. There will be a return to normal, it’s just a matter of time, » he told BBC Sport.
« We are very close. What divides us from the teams is minimal. We could sit down and resolve the situation very quickly. »
« We have told the teams that we are ready to meet them, » added Mosley.
« Now, it will take a little time to see where we meet, but when they know, we will be ready. »
