Races come and go for the Scuderia Toro Rosso. The team is suffering and will continue to suffer for another race. Why? Simply because it is waiting for aerodynamic parts from Red Bull. In light of the results of this team, especially in Great Britain, it’s a real ordeal for Toro Rosso. The updates are therefore expected in Hungary at the end of July, and they will have to make do in Germany at the Nurburgring circuit.
In Great Britain, the drivers didn’t do much. Sébastien Buemi finished last in the race in 18th position, and Sébastien Bourdais retired after the only collision of the Grand Prix with Kovalainen. Toro Rosso is now the last team as Force India has taken a lead.
Sébastien Buemi – 18th:
« It was a very tough race and we struggled to keep up with the pace. We now need to try and understand why, as we were quicker at the beginning of the weekend. Especially with worn tires, the car was very difficult to drive. At the Nurburgring, the situation will be difficult again, but we expect some updates for Hungary, which will allow us to be more competitive.
Sébastien Bourdais – Retirement:
Regarding my collision with Kovalainen, he changed his line twice. Coming out of Stowe, I was on the normal line and he was on the inside. I then moved more to the outside, and he changed sides, then switched back again. He braked early and was just leaving the pits with a full tank and cold tires as a result. He shouldn’t have changed position like that. The collision was unavoidable, and then afterward I lost pressure and had to stop in the garage.
Franz Tost – Team Principal:
« First of all, congratulations to Red Bull for this fantastic work, particularly the drivers like Vettel who had an incredible pace in the early stages of the race. He and Webber easily controlled this Grand Prix. As for us, we were on pace this weekend apart from a few small technical issues. We were not at the level we expected. One of the reasons is that we are suffering from the absence of new aerodynamic specifications. We will have them for Hungary, and I am eagerly anticipating them, hoping it brings us back to the middle of the grid. »
