Mosley, ready for a new term!

Max Mosley declared to the FIA that now he had no choice but to consider a new term in light of what is happening between the governing body and the manufacturers. A situation he finds unjustified.

This week’s event is an important meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council taking place in Paris on Wednesday. Everyone is awaiting a response from the governing body on FOTA’s plans to create its own series. Mosley made it clear that he will not be pushed aside by the teams.

In a letter that Mosley sent on Tuesday to all members of the FIA Board of Directors, he asks them to decide on his situation. Namely, an end to his career or a re-election to fight and resolve the threat from the teams.

Over the past few weeks, it has become very clear that one of the goals of the teams is for me to resign from my position as FIA president. Last year, you renewed your confidence in me and, as I wrote to you on May 16, 2008, it was not my intention to seek a new term in October 2009, Mosley stated in his letter.

« However, following the attack on my mandate, I now have to consider whether or not to seek a new mandate. »

« It is up to the FIA members only to decide and not the automotive industry, and even less the people that the industry uses to operate these Formula 1 teams. »

« This is an attack that the FIA is currently facing on its rights to regulate its Formula 1 World Championship, » Mosley added.

« No FIA president could allow this … we are also in the process of preparing legal proceedings in case it is necessary to protect the FIA’s rights within its own championship and to discourage any Formula 1 team from engaging in illegal acts. »
