The current representative of the Formula One Teams Association or FOTA, Luca di Montezemolo, is pleased with the reconciliation between the FIA and his organization. Indeed, an agreement with the FIA has been finalized, eliminating any threat of a parallel championship. The Italian wants to pay tribute to Max Mosley for his contribution to this outcome.
« He was able to identify the problem with great intelligence, » said di Montezemolo. « When you have agreed on a deal, everyone must help each other to stay the course. »
In the interest of the sport, the 61-year-old president of Ferrari also called to forget politics and focus on the reconciliation between the FIA and the FOTA, a true chance to improve F1.
« Controversies are not good for F1, especially for the audience. Formula 1 is a fantastic sport that needs to be revitalized and not just protected. »
Mosley stated that he did not consider the agreement a personal defeat, emphasizing that he succeeded in achieving his goals with the new teams on establishing a budget cap.
« They have the rules they wanted and the stability, we have new teams and a budget cap so everything is fine, » stated the Briton.
