The design of Campos cars began in March

The Campos team is keeping track of the discussions between the FOTA and FIA, but these have no impact on the design of its first Formula 1 cars, which began in March. Dallara is responsible for manufacturing the single-seaters. A first car will be released and make an appearance early next year before the final 2010 season car is unveiled for the first GP.

There are still very long months ahead for both the team and the manufacturer to launch and finalize its design process before its official entry into the FIA F1 championship: « We continue as if nothing happened, » said to GPWeek Gian Paolo Dallara, owner of the company Dallara, regarding the ongoing war of words between FOTA and FIA.

« We started designing the car three months ago. We took a risk with Campos because his entry was not certain three months ago. We made this decision because we thought it would be almost impossible to design and produce an F1 in a fairly short time frame. »

With technical regulations that remain unclear for the next season, the Spanish team, however, has clear plans. Our car will have two-wheel drive, no possibility of refueling, and no KERS, the Italian continued.

« We worked with a specific set of specifications, the one from 2009, adding supplements for 2010. We have very clear design plans and are aware of what is possible to do within limited budgets. »
