The Brawn GP team remains vigilant as Red Bull Racing scored more points than the British team for the second consecutive race at Silverstone.
Brawn won three-quarters of the races in the 2009 season while the Austrian team has two victories. Ross Brawn remains ready for any eventuality, which is why the Brackley team will bring new parts to the next race.
With eight out of nine races having taken place at this stage of the season, Brawn still dominates both championships. In the drivers’ standings, Jenson Button is 25 points ahead of the leading Red Bull driver, Vettel, who is third overall.
« Red Bull is ultimately quite close, so I think we will find our way back to performance, because this team made a good step in Silverstone, » admitted Brawn.
The team principal also believes that if Red Bull were to win multiple races, then Button and Brawn GP would need to secure podiums to minimize the damage. « With additional tire issues, we didn’t have new parts at Silverstone, it was very difficult, » he continued.
« For Great Britain, we were unable to determine the benefits of the new parts, so to avoid any confusion, we had the same elements as in Turkey. We will have some new improvements for the Nürburgring in Germany. »
In Great Britain, the RB5 was a notch above the BGP001: « I always knew that the RBR5 was perfect from an aerodynamic point of view. At Silverstone, we were not up to the mark because our tires stayed cold. We probably need to see normal conditions to really assess the situation. »
