The European GP sees a decrease in attendance

The company Valmor Sport, which is responsible for organizing the European Grand Prix in Valencia (Spain), has announced through its manager a drop in ticket demand.

The European Grand Prix has been held since last year on the streets and around the port of Valencia (eastern coast of Spain). The event gathered over 110,000 people last year, but this year, attendance seems to be much lower.

Thus, with the agreement of Telefónica, the main sponsor of the GP, the number of available seats has been reduced by 35,000. Therefore, only 75,000 seats will be available for the race on Sunday. This agreement was confirmed today by Telefónica’s vice president, Jorge Martínez Aspar. The aim is to improve the accessibility for people with reduced mobility.

The Valencia Grand Prix will take place from August 21 to 23 and according to Aspar, ticket sales are much lower than last year at the same time. However, he tempers the situation with the national promotion campaign which is set to start this weekend.

The vice president is, however, confident about selling the remaining tickets once the advertising campaign is launched but also acknowledges the economic crisis and the general decline in attendance at Spanish circuits. This was already the case in Barcelona for the Spanish Grand Prix several months ago.
