This German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring will be a home race for five drivers on the F1 grid, including Nico Rosberg from Williams. He approaches this weekend under the best auspices, as the young German is currently in good form. He has recently secured two consecutive 5th place finishes, so why not do better in front of his home crowd? He wishes it with all his heart for his fans who will come in large numbers.
His teammate, Kazuki Nakajima, is also preparing for this race. With a Formula 1 car, he has never driven on the Nurburgring track but knows the circuit from his experience in motorsports and also thanks to the Williams team simulator. A team that seems to establish itself well as the 5th force in the championship behind Brawn GP, Red Bull, Toyota, and Ferrari now.
Nico Rosberg – Racing Driver:
The corners of the Nurburgring are very different from those at Silverstone because the average speed is much lower. This means the car’s setup needs to be very different. We have many things to test on Friday to head in the right direction and get the most out of the car. The FW31 has been very consistent and relatively fast on all tracks since the start of the season. So, I am hopeful that we can maintain this form. Going to Germany is a bit special for me because it’s my home Grand Prix along with Hockenheim, which I know better. The races here bring a real frenzy with many Germans, of course. The fans are truly passionate about the sport, so there will be a great atmosphere. After a long break since the last race, I can’t wait to get back on track.
Kazuki Nakajima – Race Car Driver
« Like Silverstone, it’s a difficult track, but, unlike Silverstone, the average speed is lower. The weather can be an important factor at the Nurburgring because you need to achieve suitable temperatures to heat the tires. The setup should be quite simple. I haven’t raced on this track with a Formula 1 car yet, only with a GP2 car. I had a good race and I hope the experience will help me. I’ve also done many laps on the simulator, so I hope to be well prepared. The German fans are really passionate, and I think this year they will be even more passionate with Vettel and Nico [Rosberg] who are doing an excellent job. »
