German GP: Brawn GP has a score to settle!

…A revenge against Red Bull, which dared to disrupt the hegemony of Brawn GP since the beginning of the season during the recent British Grand Prix (home turf for the Brackley team). Ross Brawn’s team had only secured the 3rd and 6th places. Improvements will be made this weekend to the BGP001 to tackle the Nurburgring circuit in Germany.

The drivers, Jenson Button and Rubens Barrichello, are setting off confident in any case. With their driving experience, they know the track well. The Brazilian even claimed victory right here during his time with Ferrari. Success is expected but it must be as convincing as Red Bull’s to avoid losing more points.

Ross Brawn – Team Principal:

« The team is eager to get back on track for the German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring. It should be a good circuit for our car. We have several new aerodynamic elements from Silverstone that were not used during qualifying and the race due to the multiple issues we encountered there. There are also improvements planned for the Nurburgring. »

« Even though third and sixth at Silverstone is always a good result, we are the first to admit that these results did not meet our expectations. However, we have always said that the battle will be tough to maintain the excellence of our team. Everyone at the factory and at Mercedes-Benz is eager to take on this challenge. Moreover, it is the home Grand Prix for our engine supplier. We hope to finish the race in Germany with a good result. »

Jenson Button – Racing Driver

« The Nurburgring is a difficult track, but there are two main features that should play in favor of our car. It is a relatively slow circuit, with many medium-speed corners. This is one of the strengths of the BGP 001. The Nurburgring is also a circuit with heavy braking. »

« With the week off, everyone at the factory and at Mercedes-Benz has worked extremely hard in preparation for this German Grand Prix to achieve the best race result. We are eager to show what the car can do at the Nurburgring after a disappointing weekend in Britain. My last session at Silverstone showed that the car’s pace is very competitive, so we are confident for the upcoming race. »

Rubens Barrichello – Racing Driver:

I have always loved racing at Nurburgring, it’s a good challenge for the drivers. The track as a whole is pleasant. There are some undulations and bumps to watch out for. I won the race here in 2002. This track is synonymous with good memories for me. The weather can be a bit unpredictable because of its location in the mountains, but we hope for warmer temperatures than at Silverstone for the last race.

The first corner is really important for a good lap. It’s one of the best overtaking opportunities because if the cars around you slide to the right, you need to take advantage of every opportunity.
