It seems that Red Bull Racing is on track to have another great weekend exactly three weeks after their one-two in Great Britain. Drivers Vettel and Webber have well adapted to the characteristics of this week’s circuit, namely the Nurburgring in Germany, the homeland of the former Toro Rosso driver.
Webber asserts his dominance in the first session. Vettel is on track to do the same in the afternoon session, but a certain Lewis Hamilton relegates him to second place. Still a very strong performance nonetheless. No problems detected on the RB5s and all hopes are alive for tomorrow, including pole position!
Sebastian Vettel – 8th and 2nd:
« We had a problem this morning when the engine cut out, so we lost a lot of time. Fortunately, in the dry this afternoon, the time loss didn’t worsen. It was still very difficult this afternoon because the track was still very slippery. This made the possibility of having a good lap quite low. On top of that, the wind is very strong and plays tricks, especially during braking in the last sector, but I think we have a good car. I’m looking forward to tomorrow. Obviously, we still have a lot of work to do. We did a lot of testing today, and we’ll now look at what’s best to prepare well for the qualifiers. »
Mark Webber – 1st and 4th:
« It was a good day for us. We expected variable and cool conditions, which are typical of the Nurburgring, so there’s no surprise there. We did a basic program for a Friday, comparing the tires, and it seems quite straightforward. We completed a reasonable number of laps. The guys worked very well today and we have everything we need to come out victorious tomorrow. »
