Wurz and de la Rosa in the sights of USF1!

Pedro de la Rosa and Alexander Wurz are the main contenders in the race to join an American driver in the new USF1 team. While the American team initially planned for two drivers of the same North American nationality for its first campaign in 2010, the team now believes it would be better to choose an experienced driver to help and strengthen its development phase.

She is therefore already in talks with de la Rosa and Wurz, whose extensive experience in testing and racing would be a huge advantage for USF1.

The contract of the Spaniard as a McLaren test driver expires at the end of the year. He is also in talks with Campos Grand Prix for a race seat. Wurz will also be free since Brawn GP is releasing him at the end of this season. The Austrian has been very busy in recent months as he has been trying to get his Superfund team on the grid in 2010.

Speaking of USF1, Wurz said: « Peter Windsor [sporting director of USF1] spoke to me about the possibility of driving for them because they have little time for testing and would need an experienced driver. I know his first priority is an American driver, but if they really need me, I might be interested in this new adventure. »

USF1 is therefore considering placing an American driver in its cars, such as the Formula Atlantic driver Jonathan Summerton, one of the main contenders for F1.
