The Canadian GP is close to an agreement for 2010!

According to the mayor of the city of Montreal, track directors are close to reaching an agreement to revive the Canadian Grand Prix next year. Gérald Tremblay stated at a press conference in the Quebec capital that only a few final obstacles remain to be overcome to see this North American event in the 2010 championship.

« There are still some commitments that have been made and need to be refined, » he told a Canadian news agency. « Currently, we are trying to finalize this agreement in the best interests of Montreal. »

No date has been set for the event, but it is likely to keep its usual slot, which means in June: « We want Montreal to regain its status as one of the most important Grand Prix in the world, » said Tremblay.

The agreement for this return to business is holding together thanks to the support of the governments of Quebec and Ottawa, who share the costs as well as the profits. The absence of the Canadian Grand Prix from this year’s calendar was significant. And for good reason, there was no race in North America.
