Ferrari will confirm a contract with Santander at Monza

According to the sports newspaper Marca, Ferrari will announce a sponsorship agreement with the Spanish bank Santander next month. The contract has been in development for over a year, but will finally be officially confirmed before the Italian Grand Prix in Monza.

The current rumor concerns the future of Fernando Alonso, who, despite being under contract with Renault until the end of the 2010 season, could be announced as a future Ferrari driver at Monza at the same time. However, Marca tempers expectations and suggests that this announcement might only be revealed at the end of the official season, at the earliest.

Santander Bank, whose director Emilio Botin admires the talents of his compatriot Alonso, is currently advertising on the rear wings of McLaren cars. Alonso is supported by Santander’s subsidiary Universia.

By tradition, Santander has a habit of following the Spanish driver by collaborating with the team that employs Alonso. The rumors about its move to Scuderia are therefore only legitimate.
