Domenicali: « Encouraging progress for Massa »

The team principal of Ferrari, Stefano Domenicali, stated that Felipe Massa is making steady progress in his recovery phase after his accident during the qualifying session of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Italian visited the Brazilian directly at his home in Sao Paulo.

The 28-year-old driver, who was hit on the head by a spring from Rubens Barrichello’s car, suffered a concussion and skull damage. This happened nearly a month ago. For now, he is recovering from the accident at his home in Brazil but remains under the care of doctors from the Albert Einstein Hospital in Sao Paulo.

« Felipe is in excellent shape and his recovery is going very well, » stated Domenicali. « I am very happy with his condition. The medical checks, which have been carried out over the last two weeks, continue to be very encouraging. Now, it is important to be patient and to move forward step by step, without any haste, » he added.

We do not yet know how long it will be before Felipe Massa is fit to drive a Formula 1 car. Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer will be in Massa’s seat this weekend for the European Grand Prix in Valencia. He will be his official replacement after Michael Schumacher was forced to cancel his comeback due to a persistent neck injury.
