Adrian Sutil finished ahead of his teammate, in this case, Giancarlo Fisichella. The German, in 10th place, had a great endurance race. The Italian struggled a bit more, mainly with his tires which remained fragile this weekend. The entire team, from the mechanic to the team owner, is eagerly awaiting the Belgian Grand Prix, which takes place in just a week’s time.
Adrian Sutil – 10th:
« Today is synonymous with good performance, without errors, a good lap time and we have shown that we have made a big step forward. I think tenth is the maximum we could do starting 12th on the grid. It was a very tough race, very hot, but everything worked perfectly. I was behind the two BMWs for my first stint and couldn’t do better on the track, but the team made a very good stop and I was able to get ahead of Heidfeld. I’m really looking forward to Spa now. I like this pace we showed this weekend, it’s promising for a good result there. »
Giancarlo Fisichella – 12th:
It was a difficult race because my position on the grid was not as good as we had hoped. We used a kind of one-stop strategy, which gave us the opportunity to gain some position. I had a very good start. The first stint was very challenging but with a good pace. Then, we changed tires, and it was a bit more difficult because there was a bit of graining. I was able to maintain a good pace but had to take care of my tires until the end. Twelfth is a good result for us. We made progress and we seem to be ahead of Toyota and other cars. We need another step, and as we did this weekend, we can then easily score points.
**Vijay Mallya – Team Principal and President:** Overall, it was a very good performance for us throughout the weekend and probably one of the most competitive races over the two seasons. The updates introduced clearly showed a benefit. We are now truly in the midfield. I would like to say thank you to the entire team back at Silverstone, who worked very hard to achieve this development for the drivers. We now eagerly await Belgium.
