Luca Badoer is convinced that he will do a much better job at the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend after a tough race in Valencia. The Italian is replacing Felipe Massa, and for the European Grand Prix, he qualified in last position. He also struggled in the race with only a 17th place finish, it must be said that this return to competition occurred after a long period of inactivity.
But Badoer is adamant that now he knows the car and on a track he knows like Spa, he will be able to raise his level of performance: “I feel more confident, because I have improved,” said Badoer. “Of course, we have to move forward step by step. So, as I said before, I think Spa is a track I know and I will be at a better level.”
« I just told you that this weekend I improved a lot, and at Spa, I think it will be much better. I will have a better feeling with the car, with the team, with the track, and with everything. It will be much better, I promise you. »
The 38-year-old Ferrari driver admitted that his race was difficult for him, but having completed the 57 laps at Valencia, he believes his mission was accomplished: « It’s certain that it was a difficult race. It was difficult because F1 is very different compared to 10 years ago. It was difficult with the pressure of not making mistakes. »
« The pressure was to finish the race with the aim of completing many more laps and having much more confidence in the car, » concluded Luca Badoer.
