What a fabulous Italian race on the Monza track! A race full of suspense from start to finish. In the end, it’s another Brawn one-two with Rubens Barrichello ahead of his teammate Jenson Button. Kimi Räikkönen for Ferrari is back on the podium with 3rd position. He is racking up a lot of points at the moment, slowly but surely catching up with the Red Bull drivers. Force India is definitely the revelation of this season’s end as Adrian Sutil finishes fourth.
Fernando Alonso returns to the points for Renault. Heikki Kovalainen still secures some points with his McLaren team. A BMW driver, specifically Nick Heidfeld, enters the points with 7th place. Finally, very discreet during the Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel scores a point for Red Bull. The German can thank Lewis Hamilton, who violently crashes on the last lap. The Briton might regret missing a podium. Giancarlo Fisichella in the second F60 is 9th. The Frenchman Romain Grosjean is 15th after a mixed race.

In the driver standings, there are few changes as many drivers maintain their positions. Button remains the leader ahead of Barrichello, who gains two points on him. The gap is now 14 points (80 to 66). The Red Bull drivers are slowing down and likely see the title slipping away. Vettel is in 3rd place and Webber still in 4th with 54 and 51.5 points, respectively. Räikkönen makes a strong comeback in 5th position with 40 points. Hamilton, in 7th, misses the opportunity to move up to 6th, overtaken by Rosberg (30.5 to 27 points).
Jarno Trulli and Felipe Massa are still 8th and 9th. But other drivers are lurking, such as Alonso and Kovalainen, who both have 20 points and are tied for 10th position. Timo Glock slips to 12th place, while Heidfeld, Fisichella, and Robert Kubica maintain their positions in 13th, 14th, and 15th respectively. Sutil scores his first points and moves directly into 16th place, relegating Sébastien Buemi and Sébastien Bourdais to 17th and 18th positions.
In the constructor standings, Brawn GP is soaring towards the title with currently 146 points against 105.5 for its runner-up, Red Bull. Ferrari is well-established in 3rd position at the expense of McLaren, which seems condemned to 4th place (62 against 47). Toyota and Williams remain 5th and 6th, not scoring any points this weekend. BMW and Renault are tied for 8th position with 20 points. Force India is coming up strong behind with 13 points while Toro Rosso languishes in 10th position.
