The former Renault team boss, Flavio Briatore, has promised to pay back everyone who ‘betrayed’ him during the 2008 Singapore ‘Crashgate’ scandal. As a reminder, the Italian was banned for life from Formula 1 and all championships of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile.
After the revelation of the sanction, many partners left him. After Formula 1, he even risks losing the Queens Park Rangers football team. The English Federation will decide soon.
At 58 years old, Briatore saw his empire overturned by the 2008 Singapore Grand Prix cheating scandal. He admits being a victim of the world he built: “I was betrayed by my own clan,” he comments to the Italian newspaper Republica.
The Italian now aims to set up a competition similar to F1 to compete with the FIA: « You will see, soon, I will have an even better championship than them. I will win my bet and I invite all those who have supported me in recent days to win it with me. I just want to be seen differently and not to be judged on this matter. »
For your information, Renault has decided to withdraw its complaint against the Piquet Jr. and Sr. clan for denunciation. Briatore, for his part, is considering filing a complaint against the FIA. One thing is certain, the ‘Crashgate’ affair is not over yet!
