Like most drivers who took part in the third part of qualifying, Timo Glock, the Toyota driver, has a few regrets about the red flag that disrupted his plans. The German was unable to use his last set of tires and believes he could have done better than 7th place. However, he benefits from Barrichello’s penalty to gain a position and move up to 6th place on the grid.
Jarno Trulli cannot say the same, he is lacking grip badly and struggled to get through Q1. In Q2, he was dead last and will therefore start from the 15th position.
Timo Glock – 8th and 6th (7th fastest):
« I am happy to be back in the top 10 again. I love this track and I am confident in the setups made on the car. The sessions went well in general, especially in Q2 when I was immediately faster than in Q1. The car was really reliable and it was nice to get into Q3. My lap was decent in this session, but I had hard tires and they were a bit worn. I was really looking forward to my last run on the softs, but the red flag prevented me from doing so. I know I could have improved my lap time and who knows where that might have led me. But in the end, I start from sixth place, which seems pretty good. I hope we have a good first lap to try to finish in the top six. I will fight for as many points as possible. »
Jarno Trulli – 10th and 15th:
The main problem for me was a lack of grip. The track conditions seem to have improved, but we couldn’t improve our lap times. I don’t know why because Timo is strong but I have less grip. The car isn’t particularly good. Anything can happen in the race and I will fight as hard as I can, but it will be difficult to score points starting from 15th.
Pascal Vasselon – Technical Director of Chassis:
« As expected, we are stronger here in Singapore compared to the last race, so it’s disappointing not to have both cars in the top 10. Timo did a good job getting through Q1 and Q2 in qualifying. Ultimately, we are a bit frustrated that the last session ended prematurely due to the red flag, as he didn’t have the chance to use his last set of tires to qualify even higher. The goal for Timo is clearly a good finish, but the race will be more challenging for Jarno. We need to analyze the grip issues he encountered, and we will see what we can do with his strategy to regain some positions. »
