Abu Dhabi GP: Ferrari does not admit defeat for 3rd place

The Scuderia Ferrari wants to close this dreary 2009 season on a high note. As usual, they will be able to rely on the competitive spirit of their number 1 driver, Kimi Räikkönen. The Finn will leave the Italian team after this race, and his passion for the sport and the challenge will drive him to deliver a great performance on Sunday.

We can’t say the same for Giancarlo Fisichella, who has been nonexistent since his arrival at the Ferrari team, replacing Felipe Massa. He was actually more noticeable during his time with Force India and scored his only points of the year with the Indian team. Being part of the ‘old’ generation, he will slowly step back from the scene by accepting a test driver position for Scuderia starting in 2010.

Kimi Räikkönen – Ferrari Driver:

« The race in Abu Dhabi will be my last Grand Prix with Ferrari and as always, I will give 100% to achieve the best possible result. We will try to conclude this difficult year with a good result, hoping it will be enough to win third place in the Constructors’ Championship. McLaren indeed took it back in Brazil. It will be difficult because the competition is very tough. In Brazil, both titles were won, so maybe some drivers will take a bit more risk since everything has already been decided. Our direct competitors are still improving their car, while we have been using the same car since the Hungarian GP at the end of July. There are great expectations as the Yas Marina circuit will be exceptional. »

« However, it is difficult to make predictions, as we will be driving there for the first time. At first glance, the organizers have done an excellent job, and the circuit seems very interesting and challenging to me. It will be a very special challenge, considering the fact that we will start the race in daylight and finish it under artificial lights. This will certainly add a bit of suspense. »
