The Fan-F1 rankings at the end of the 2009 season

There is indeed an official ranking in Formula 1 that allocates points based on the importance of the positions achieved, meaning with a decreasing scale by two for the first three positions. 10 points for the winner, 8 for the second place, and 6 for the third.

This point system only rewards drivers who finish in the top eight, and drivers who regularly finish in the top ten (9th and 10th for example) are never acknowledged, even though these positions are almost as important as an eighth-place finish which typically awards a point.

To rectify the situation, casinoenlignefrance.eu.com invents the consistency ranking: Each driver receives a point according to their reverse order of arrival, provided they have crossed the checkered flag. In case of retirement, they receive no points. The first receives 22 points, the second 21, the third 20, etc. The 22nd, if there is one, will therefore receive only one point.

In the end, we get a ranking based on the finishing position of each race, showing the consistency of each participant and rewarding the driver for the work they do within the team and not just according to their position.

Seventeenth and final race also for the Motors Inside ranking. Unsurprisingly, Button is also the champion in consistency. He accumulates 311 points. Behind him are his teammate Barrichello (295), then Webber (259) and Rosberg (244). Very few retirements for the Brawn GP drivers who benefited from the perfect reliability of the BGP001. Vettel kept climbing the ranks in this classification. He finishes 5th (+1 place), 2 points behind Rosberg. Räikkönen is 6th and Hamilton 7th (-2 places) who loses a lot with his last retirement in Abu Dhabi.

Beyond the 200 points, we also see Glock, Alonso, and Heidfeld. Outside the top 10, there is Trulli in 11th place, then Kovalainen in 12th, Fisichella in 13th, Kubica in 14th, and Nakajima in 15th. It’s normal that Massa has dropped in this ranking. He finishes the season in 17th place behind Buemi (116 vs. 115). Sutil in 18th is the last driver to total more than 100 points.

At the bottom of the rankings, we find Piquet, then Bourdais, the two unfortunate ones of this 2009 season. Grosjean is 21st with 38 points, ahead of Liuzzi with one point less. Kobayashi enters directly in 23rd ahead of Alguersuari and Badoer.
