Official: Lada becomes a sponsor of Renault in Formula 1

The rumor had been circulating for a few days, but Renault confirmed on Friday the signing of a partnership that will see the Lada brand, the leading Russian automotive brand, featured on the chassis of the R30 single-seaters of the Renault F1 Team during the 2010 season.

Lada, 30% owned by the Renault group, will thus become a sponsor of the Formula 1 subsidiary. The Lada brand will therefore appear on the R30 but also on the racing suit and uniform of Vitaly Petrov, 25, the first Russian in history to become a Formula 1 driver.

This important agreement was officially signed in Moscow on March 1st. It also received public support from the Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin.

« We are proud to announce this partnership agreement, which marks another significant milestone for the Renault F1 Team and for Formula 1 in Russia, » commented Gérard Lopez, President of the Renault F1 Team.

Through Mangrove Capital, we have dynamically invested in Russia in recent years. We know this country well and have great respect for it. It is therefore an honor for our F1 team to be at the forefront of Formula 1 in Russia and to bring the Lada brand into the premier discipline of motorsports. We look forward to experiencing a season full of success together.
